  • Edlu Distance Race

    Saturday May 9th 2026

    Run by Larchmong Yatcht Club. The Edlu Race, first sailed in 1954, it is one the must-do events on western Long Island Sound. The spinnaker course is 32 nm from the Larchmont Breakwater to Gong 11B off Eaton's Neck and back.

    This will the first time the Katara 56 crew will be in attendance.

  • The Block Island Race

    Friday May 22nd 2026

    The Block Island Race was first held in 1946, and it is hosted by the Storm Trysail Club. It was created returning war veterans. The race departs from Stamford, Connecticut, before rounding Block Island and returning. It attracts boats getting for The Bermuda Race.

    This will be the first time that the Katara 56 crew will be sailing the race.

  • Newport Bermuda Race

    Friday June 19 2026

    Run by the Bermuda Race Foundation it is a 636-mile biennial competition from Newport, Rhode Island, to Bermuda. Established in 1906, it's the oldest regularly scheduled ocean race and one of the few international distance races held almost entirely out of sight of land.

    This will be the first time that the Katara 56 crew will be doing the race.

  • The Around Long Island

    Thursday July 23rd 2026

    Founded in 1977 by the Sea Cliff Yacht Club, the Around Long Island Regatta is open to all sailboats 26 feet and longer and sailors of all levels. The the traditional course is 207 miles beginning with an exhilarating start off the Statue of Liberty.

    This will be the fourth year that the Katara 56 crew will be doing the race.

The X56

The X56 is a fifty-six-foot performance cruising yacht, designed for racing and cruising in mind; it could be crossing the Atlantic, or going for a day sail. It is designed by X Yatcht and is the largest yacht in their Pure X Range.

The design philosophy was to have a huge emphasis on giving the owner a comfortable sailing experience, on a yacht that is easy to handle by the entire crew.
